Our Bed Boosts Our health

According to the National Sleep Council, our bed boosts our health as our body goes into rest mode to carry out repairs from the day just passed. If we don't get enough, this essential maintenance will not be carried out as effectively & so we might start to feel run down rather quickly. Our bed plays such a big role in getting a solid night's sleep, providing us with a comfy place to rest each night, it's easy to see why you should show it some love for helping to keep you in the best of health.

It helps keep us fit & focused. It does this as we remain horizontal to grab a solid eight hours every night & is one of the best things we can do to increase our fitness & improve our athletic performance. Research has shown that after healthy sleep, athletes were able to sprint faster, perform more accurately & benefited from better reaction times. This enhancing effect on performance is another amazing benefit to thank & love our beds for.

It improves memory as whilst most of our bodies go into rest & repair mode at night, our brains remain very active. One process that they undergo is known as ‘consolidation’, where we file experiences & information away to the most efficient regions, essentially revising everything learned through the day. Clever hey?!

It provides emotional support because sleep is incredibly important for preserving our mental health. Some of the most common issues, including depression, anxiety, & stress, can be exacerbated by a lack of sleep, whilst also being a cause of insomnia themselves in a vicious circle.

It can give our career a helping hand. If we have a challenging job, sleeping in a cosy bed can do wonders for our performance at work. After a good night's rest, we are much more likely to be more productive & creative throughout the day, which can be the foundation for a successful career. Research also shows that we can become easily distracted after less sleep

We have thought of some extra ideas to make you love your bed & bedroom more!

Spray the room with a room spray before sleep, containing sleep enhancing & relaxing essential oils such as lavender & chamomile. We recommend locally based Soul Candles Relax Bedtime Mist for its light & lovely tones.

Sleep on a pillow you love to lay your weary head on. They are just as important as your mattress. We recommend the Hypnos High or Low profile latex pillows. They are a perfect combination of soft & supportive, keep their shape & help you to stay cool & dry

Breathable sheets & covers to keep you at the perfect temperature all night long & minimise tossing & turning. Being too hot or too cold can be the cause of a restless nights sleep. We recommend the Belladorm Bamboo & Cotton range as they are perfectly soft & cosy & also help with temperature regulation

Beautiful Décor & Bedding that encourages restful sleep by choosing soft colours such as light blues, pinks, greens & neutral tones. Bolder colours can promote wakefulness so try yo keep those to a minimum in your sleeping area. We love this selection from Turner Bianca’s Bridgerton, Style Sisters & Catherine Lansfield ranges.
